The City of Wilmington invites you learn more about the upcoming Front Street improvement project by attending an open house on Thursday, August 6 at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 102 North 3rd Street.
Stakeholders will have the opportunity to look at the design and talk with city engineers from 5:30 until 6:00 pm. An overview of the project design and construction schedule will begin at 6:00, followed by another opportunity to interact with engineers and planners. This project involves replacing 100-year-old water and sewer lines that run under Front Street, as well as streetscape improvements that will make the area more pedestrian friendly and attract more visitors to downtown businesses. This eight-month project involves two blocks of Front Street, from Market Street to Chestnut Street and will begin in January, 2010. It is expected to take approximately eight months to complete. You can learn more by visiting www.wilmingtonnc.gov/frontstreet or by calling 341-4675.
